These guys are still one of the top breweries in the state. Their web site is out of date and doesn't reflect their newer craft beers. They have added at least two beers to their selection since I had last visited. This is a must stop if youre in Billings.

I found Yellowstone Valley Garage Pub to be the most unique beer place Ive ever been. I visited once before and was struck by how the brews are great - different from many MT brews. I was back in town for a week when they had music and food...one of my best beer experiences. I still have yet to revisit the other Billings breweries but will

Really a fun place. I have visited a number of breweries around the state and Yellowstone is the only one with big malt flavor. Reminds me of great beers I've had in colorado. Heard the Clumsy Lovers there and couldn't believe how fun it was even with the dumb state laws 3 pint limit and closing early (give me a break). Have tasted the other B Town brews and wasnt impressed but will revisit to be fair.

After visiting most of our home state breweries I found Yellowstone to have the best beers made. Folks are real friendly and they even have great music. Can't beat it.

beer was good, nothing to brag about, food was more to brag about ..believe it or not(for breweries) found that the chicago brews were better across town at the old train depot area...but the service and smiles were nice here

Breweries with very small brewing vessels have the benefit of turning beer fast enough to try new things more often than larger. Yellowstone is a small brewery but the vessels are big enough that "trying" new things toooo often is difficult. Yellowstone is also a packaging brewery...bottling and kegging for export..means the capacity has to be used for, yes, keeping up with demand beyond the tasting room. Recent growth has allowed Yellowstone to develop their Bonehead Ale, Numbskull Pale, Sharptooth Porter...try them again.

Beer isn't too bad, however in the 5 yrs i've been going to the Yellowstone nothing is ever different. Same 5 or 6 beers on tap, really never any seasonals, same thing different day. I prefer to have a little more variety I guess. The other places in town (Carters, Angry Hanks and MBC) all have better beer plus all of them aren't scared to experiment a little bit, in my opinion thats one of the coolest things about craft brewing.

In July 05, my wife and I flew into Billings to begin a 10 stint in the wild west. We checked Pubcrawler prior to our trip and yellowstone was listed. We showed up in the late afternoon, just in time for the metal garage door to open. This was a sight that we could not believe. The workers rolled out the tables (old wire spools) and a couple of chairs. We talked and laughed for the next couple of hours. The band was a elderly gentleman and his woman. They made the story in our journal. The Black Widow stout was very good and so were the others that we tasted. My wife really did not want to go in when we first got there but she warmed up after she had a couple of pints. This place was home to businessmen and women and also the local farmer.
Great place for a movie.

Some of the worst beer out there today it is a mystery how they stay in business. Stout tasted like vineger. Renigade Red had some strange things floating in it. My third one (name ?) was so sour I left it sit.

This remains one of the best breweries in the state; the increasing taproom popularity is a testament to their fabulous beer. Prices have edged up slightly. It now costs $6 to fill a growler and pints are on a sliding scale; $2 regularly, $3 on Saturday, and $1 extra when there is live music.

$5 growler fills and $2 pints can't be beat. Their Black Widow Stout is the only oatmeal stout brewed in the state aside from Big Sky's seasonal Slow Elk. Definitely worth hitting anytime you are in Billings.

Good brewpub, could have better selection of brews. They don't have anything hoppy at all. By far superior to Montana Brewing. I do like the atmosphere, friendly patrons and bartenders. Would be nice if they had better hours, at this time they are open Wed-Sat I think.

I was dissapointed in the YVBC beers. I generally found them to be overrated. Something similiar to lite beer, only with the calories.

It was my lucky day last Friday as Yellowstone Valley Brewing Co. premiered their latest beer; Old Bone Ale. This is perfect, easy drinking, summer swill.

Alright, I finally made it to Billings while this joint was open! Great laid back atmosphere, helpful staff, and superb beer. The Huckle-Weizen was great; the Grizzly Wulff Wheat amazing. They sell 6-packs of all their beer on site for $5, growlers are $5 to fill, and all pints are $2.

This is not a place you go to sit down and eat and have a few beers. It is a brewery. Warehouse like inside with all the brewing equipment. They do have all their beers on tap for tasting and I would encourage everyone to stop and give them all a try. Black Widow Oatmeal Stout was a 1998 GABF gold medal winner. A great place with a great brewer, George Moncure.

I've enjoyed this brewery's beers for over a year now in the Denver Metro area. They bottle Wild Fly Ale, Renagade Red, Grizzly Wulff Wheat and Black Widow Stout a 1998 Gold medal winner at GABF.
